Chicago’s 8 Inch Betsy is unrelenting in the pursuit of rocking the pants that seek to destroy you. An all-girl trio with infectious energy on stage, they deliver their very own brand of raucous, catchy melodic punk/progressive rock with a cantankerous smirk. They've been compared to bands like Team Dresch, Slint, Pat Benetar, Social Distortion, Bad Religion and oddly enough, Green Day. In the summer of 2004, this punky, powerful and quirky alliance formed and have been steadily working their way up the indie rock ladder. 8 Inch Betsy's first break came in 2005 when they were invited by Amy Ray (the Indigo Girls) to finish up the last leg of her Midwestern tour with her band, The Volunteers, taking them to coveted rock venues such as The Grog Shop, The Blind Pig, Southgate House and Buskirk-Chumley Theatre. In August of 2006, 8 Inch Betsy discovered that they had been voted "Editor's Pick" by Curve magazine for the Sept. 2006 issue - featuring the L Word's Alexandra Hedson. The band learned of the exciting news while in Olympia, WA performing at the 2006 "Homo-A-Go-Go" Music and Arts Festival - alongside bands like Bitch and the Exciting Conclusion, Lezzies on X, The Gossip, Tender Forever and many others. Since 2006, 8 Inch Betsy has opened for the Gossip twice - both times at the Abbey Pub in Chicago, where the band has been invited back on many occasions. Last year the band played Ladyfest South at The Earl in Atlanta, GA. 8 Inch Betsy has just emerged with new material and their first 13-track LP, "This Time, Last Time, Every Time.”
